A Time for Reflection

This year we have been asked to let go of all that no longer serves us. To be authentically and unapologetically ourselves. To stop giving away our power, to stop pushing beyond our breaking point to perform and produce, to remember who we are and what really matters to us.
The month of December has offered a great opportunity to reflect on and review where we stand in these respects. Emotions are abundant during this time of year. Many different gatherings, celebrations and traditions offer a joy, lightness, excitement and cheer for some and the opposite emotions for others. For many there is also some amount of grief, sadness and heartache for someone or something that once was, hasn’t yet come to be or maybe was never ours to begin with. To make sure every emotion is felt, we blend in the calendar New Year where many review the past year and look forward to what is possible and hoped for in the year ahead or maybe experience some fear or regret from the past. Looking at a months’ time from that perspective seems like a recipe for overwhelm and dis-ease.
The winter solstice brought us to the shortest and darkest day of the year on the 21st and signaled an opportunity beginning for quiet inner work. Now, if we choose, we have the next few months to slow down, reconnect with ourselves and reattune to our rhythms and cycles in preparation for all that the year ahead can offer and release any remnants of what we do not want to carry forward.
As always, I hope you can take a little time for you now, get comfy and relax and ponder some or all of these questions.
What is something that you did to protect your peace and wellbeing this season? What is something you would like to do differently next year?
What was reflected back to you this month? Joy, love, peace, harmony, generosity, abundance, expansion, curiosity, possibility, frustration, apathy, exhaustion, overwhelm, fear, stress, anger, sadness, worry, illness, other?
How did you handle the emotions you felt most this month? Were you able to surf them like a wave, did they come crashing in knocking things over or did you try to ignore them or wish them away?
Do you feel you have the clarity you need to step into 2026 with confidence and wellbeing? If not, what is one small thing you can do to change this?
What is one habit, pattern or false belief that you would like to leave behind you and what would you like to replace it with for 2026?
